We are proud to be supporting a local NHS Trust in finding an experienced Fire Safety Advisor to join their team.
The position is based at St Peter’s Hospital, Chertsey, with a requirement to work cross site as/when required. Monday - Friday, 37.5hrs per week.
This is a permanent position, paying £37,162 - £44629 DOE and will start immediately for the right candidate!
DUTIES
The main purpose of this role will be to assist the Trust’s Fire Safety Manager with all fire related issues, at all of the Trust’s properties.
You will be responsible for technical and general Fire Safety Advice, completion of detailed fire risk assessments in accordance with HTM05 and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) order 2005, including the provision of Fire Safety training within the Trust.
The post will require a comprehensive approach to ensure that fire safety issues are recognised, with remedial action planned, implemented and maintained in an appropriate manner, and in line with the relevant code of practice.
As a Fire Safety Advisor, you will provide advice on structural fire protection and safety for existing and new buildings, and proposed alterations to buildings, undertaking fire risk assessments in all premises managed by the Trust.
You will prepare reports and prioritise action plans following risk assessments which requires the analysis and comparison of a range of options, the post holder will be responsible for formulating, implementing and monitoring any action plans.
As part of your role, you will also undertake an annual re-assessment of fire safety risks, or more frequently, as required and will regularly review new fire legislation and regulations and, where necessary, provide briefing notes and procedures for comment/approval to fire safety group.
REQUIREMENTS
As a Fire Safety Advisor, you will have:
- Degree in Fire engineering/ Engineering science, or fire /fire safety. (Or extensive experience and knowledge in fire safety, supplemented by a specialist qualification in fire engineering/fire safety to post graduate/diploma level or equivalent)
- Certificate in training practice or extensive experience of preparing and delivering training
- Membership of a professional organisation (e.g. the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) or the institute of Fire Prevention Officers (IFPO)
- Experience and knowledge of undertaking fire risk assessments
- The ability to undertake fire safety audits, including in complex health care premises
- The ability to communicate effectively to ensure high standards of care, treatment, service or support as appropriate to your role
